Westpac interviews

Candidates for most roles will be invited for at least one type of interview, whether that is a video interview, a phone interview or straight into a face-to-face interview.

Video interviews involve answering a series of pre-recorded questions, usually competency-based, looking for examples of your skills, experience and qualifications that match the essential knowledge for the role. These are more likely to be found in the graduate and intern application process.

For some roles, a phone interview can provide similar questions, and give you space to show your knowledge and ask your own questions.

Face-to-face interviews are still an important part of the application process, and they can sometimes be used as an initial interview, a second interview, or as part of an assessment centre.

Whatever form the interview takes, this is the time for you to shine, demonstrating your research and knowledge about the role, the business, and the wider financial industry. Using the information provided in the job profile, provide examples that demonstrate that you have the right skills and aptitudes that are needed.

Westpac Assessment Centre

If you are successful in your interview, you can expect to be invited to a half day assessment centre. This takes place in a Westpac office, and several candidates participate in a number of solo and group projects designed to test your interpersonal and business skills.

You will be under assessment throughout the whole day, and you can expect to take part in a group activity, a solo project, a presentation and an interview. You will also have the opportunity to speak to other employees, get questions answered and really showcase your personality and your ‘uncommon mind’ – the part that Westpac is really interested in.

Practice Aptitude Tests is not associated with Westpac. We provide preparation services for Westpac psychometric tests. Our tests are not designed to be identical to any style, employer or industry. Visit https://www.westpac.com.au/about-westpac/careers/ to find out more.
