NAB online application form
The first stage of the application process is to complete an online application form for the position you wish to apply for, which will typically take around 10 minutes.
The application form will begin with you providing some personal details, followed by some information on your previous employment and your education.
After this, you will need to upload a resume/CV, which should be up-to-date and tailored to the position you are applying to. We recommend reviewing the job description so you understand what the hiring team are looking for, and adapting your CV to demonstrate how you fit the description.
You will also have the opportunity to upload a cover letter, which can help strengthen your application as you can showcase things that aren’t on your CV and explain why you are interested in a career at NAB.
NAB Aptitude Tests
If you meet the eligibility criteria you will be invited to complete an online assessment, which consists of a personality assessment, verbal reasoning test, numerical reasoning test, and logical reasoning test.
NAB personality assessment
NAB uses personality assessments to get a deeper understanding of your personal characteristics, preferences, and values and motivations. The questionnaire is not timed and will consist of various multiple-choice questions. There are no right or wrong answers in the tests as such, however, there will be certain responses that reflect traits the hiring team seeks.
While it’s important to keep in mind the values, competencies and skills NAB is looking for, you should also answer the questions honestly. Try not to dwell on the questions too long, as your initial reaction is often the most accurate.
NAB verbal reasoning test
A verbal reasoning test explores your ability to read, process and extract key pieces of information from a passage of text to come to the correct conclusion. NAB uses verbal reasoning tests as many positions require strong communication and comprehension skills.
The questions will present you with a paragraph and a statement relating to the paragraph. You will then need to determine if the statement is ‘True’, ‘False’, or ‘Cannot Say’ based on what you just read.
The test is timed, so we recommend practicing sample verbal reasoning questions to become accustomed to the pace at which you need to answer the questions.
NAB numerical reasoning test
You will also need to complete a numerical reasoning test as part of the assessment. This tests how well you can tackle a variety of mathematical problems. The questions will usually involve some data presented in the form of a graph, table or chart, and a question relating to the data.
You must extract the relevant information and use basic mathematical calculations to reach the correct conclusion.
NAB uses numerical reasoning tests as a lot of roles will require strong arithmetic and data interpretation skills.
To prepare for this test we recommend brushing up on your knowledge of basic maths concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios.
NAB logical reasoning test
The logical reasoning test assesses your ability to interpret abstract information, think critically and solve problems. The questions will typically show patterns, sequences, and diagrams, which you must analyse to infer the underlying relationship or rule that governs them to determine the next item or the missing item.
The questions will be presented in a multiple-choice format, where you will need to select the correct answer out of several possible options. As with the other reasoning tests, the logical reasoning test is timed, so it is important to practice sample logical questions to familiarise yourself with the format and style of the questions.
