Careers at M&G
M&G offers a range of graduate schemes and internships, as well as apprenticeships in technology, management and finance.
M&G’s apprenticeship schemes take 13–18 months, throughout which you will be placed in different departments and roles.
Graduate placements at M&G take 18–24 months. Internships last for eight weeks, and interns who successfully complete their program will be offered a placement on the graduate scheme automatically.
Both the graduate schemes and internships are job-specific. You will be placed in one department (such as financial investing or business technology) for the duration of your scheme, but you will rotate between teams within this department.
So, when applying be sure to choose the area of work that suits your skills and abilities the best.

M And G Aptitude Tests
M&G logical reasoning test
The logical reasoning test evaluates a candidate’s ability to draw relevant conclusions from a series of pieces of information.
All roles at M&G involve the analysis of complex information from accounts, stock market reviews and annual reports, so candidates must demonstrate their ability to draw accurate conclusions from large sets of information with accuracy when under pressure.
M&G’s logical reasoning test is broad and could encompass a variety of logical reasoning questions, including pattern-spotting in image sequencing, deductive word problems or critical reasoning tests, in which candidates have to extract logical information from a paragraph.
The logical reasoning test takes around 30 minutes to complete. All of the questions have multiple-choice answers. The questions themselves do not have time limits, but once a question has been answered it can’t be returned to.
M&G situational judgement test
The situational judgement test asks candidates to draw conclusions from observational statements about situations. These questions present work-based scenarios and ask candidates to select the answer which best reflects how they would respond.
M&G is looking for candidates who are able to work with different people on complex financial issues in a high-pressure environment, whilst also making insightful and beneficial contributions to projects. Client satisfaction is a priority at M&G, and so these tests will also evaluate how a candidate might respond in challenging client-facing situations.
M&G personality test
The M&G personality tests evaluate important professional qualities such as willingness to cooperate, ambition, or sensitivity. It is important for M&G to recruit candidates who fit well within their teams and will be able to collaborate effectively with each other.
The test is tailored to the financial industry, and so questions are job-specific. Although it is important to consider the values M&G upholds and anticipate the kinds of qualities M&G may be looking for in their graduate recruits, it is also important to be honest.
If you do succeed and are invited to an assessment day, the results of your test will be compared to the observations of those interviewing you. You will also have to sit a similar test again, but without the support of technology. So, the online personality test is an initial phase in an evaluation of candidate integrity.
M&G strengths-based video interview
M&G uses HireVue technology to conduct automated online interviews. If you are invited, you will be sent a link with detailed instructions on how to participate in the interview.
Before the interview begins, you will need to conduct sound, video, and technology checks to ensure there are no technical glitches that might interrupt your interview process.
The questions in the videos are automated. They take 30 seconds to read after which candidates are given 3 minutes to answer.
There are no pauses between questions and if you do not answer in the allotted time, the interview will move on to the next question. So, think fast and stay calm, and make sure you speak clearly and succinctly.
The questions are strengths-based and will refer directly to points on your CV. So, it is important to prepare and know your CV well.
At the end of the interview, there is a small amount of time for you to talk about achievements, motivations, and abilities. Consider what sets you apart as a candidate, and also what it is that drew you to apply for the M&G graduate scheme specifically, but make sure you don’t repeat any of your previous answers.
Prepare for the video interview as you would a face-to-face interview. Make sure you are smartly dressed, well-rested, and have practiced answering standard questions, backing up your answers with evidence. Ensure you are in a quiet, tidy space where you will not be disturbed.
