Kroger interviews

Shortly after your online application, you’ll be called by a member of the Kroger recruitment team to participate in a telephone interview. This will help them to get a feel for your demeanour and understand why you want to work for this company specifically.

The phone interview is an opportunity for you to ask questions you have about the position and get a feel for Kroger as an employer. To improve your chances of moving on to an in-person interview, speak clearly and with confidence. It’s good to show your personality, but remember this is an interview so remain professional throughout.

If successful at the phone interview stage, you will be invited to a face-to-face interview with one or more of the hiring team at Kroger. This is going to be a lot more in-depth than the phone interview and there are several questions you can prepare for. Such as:

  • What do you know about Kroger?
  • Tell us about your previous work experience
  • Why do you want to work for Kroger’s?
  • Why are you a good fit for Kroger?
  • If X happened, how would you handle it?
  • How would you define excellent customer service?
  • What is your greatest strength and weakness?

It’s also good to come to the in-person interview with a handful of your own questions to show that you’re engaged and curious about the position and progression opportunities. Practice your answers to common questions, dress appropriately for the role you are applying for and relax - let your enthusiasm for the role do the work.

Following the in-person interview, you will be contacted either by phone or email to be informed if you have got the job. If you haven’t been successful, you may be able to ask for feedback to improve your application next time.
