Careers at JP Morgan
Opportunities for experienced professionals at JP Morgan are varied and can include positions in a range of business functions such as technology, client management, operations, finance and product/investment management.
JP Morgan also offers several programs to students and graduates across the company:
School programs & apprenticeships
These programs range from week-long work experience to a full-time position, and are typically aimed at high school students who are ready to start a full-time career, or want to gain valuable experience and insight at JP Morgan before leaving school.
Pre-internships
Pre-internships can last anywhere from a single day to several weeks, depending on the program. These are usually aimed at undergraduate and MBA students who are interested in learning more about the industry and the company.
Internships
The summer internships are typically 10–12 weeks in length, though longer-term and off-cycle internships are also offered in some regions and business areas.
These opportunities are typically reserved for students in their penultimate year at university interested in gaining hands-on work experience in the industry in between their studies. Internships at the postgraduate and PhD level are also available.
Full-time
The JP Morgan graduate schemes generally last between 24 and 36 months. There are programs available for candidates at the undergraduate and postgraduate, PhD and MBA levels.
JP Morgan has five core values that underpin its company culture:

The process starts by searching for roles using the job search section of the JP Morgan website. You can refine your search here to find the best match for your skills and interests.
Students can apply for up to three programs. If you are unsure on what position would be best for you, The Pymetrics Program Navigator (which assesses cognitive, behavioural and social characteristics) can be used to advise you on what programs would be suitable for you.
You can also join the JP Morgan Talent Network to receive updates on new positions that may be of more interest to you.
The application process at JP Morgan will vary slightly depending on what level of position you are applying to. For experienced professional roles, you will typically submit an application, which will be followed by interviews and, if successful, an offer.
The application process for student and graduate programs will also include a Pymetrics game and video interview.
JP Morgan online application
Once you’ve decided on the position you’d like to pursue, you must submit your online application form. First you’ll need to give some personal details and upload your resume.
It’s important to tailor your resume to the position you are applying to, so take a look at the job description and highlight how your achievements, skills and relevant work experience match what’s required. Students with less work experience can use examples from internships, projects and course work to demonstrate their suitability for the role.
In the online application, you will also have the option to submit a cover letter alongside your resume, which is a good way to showcase more of your personality and elaborate on why you’re an ideal candidate for the position.
JP Morgan Pymetrics Assessment
For student and graduate programs, you may be invited to play a series of Pymetrics assessment games if your online application is successful. This is a gamified assessment, consisting of 12 interactive games that are designed to assess cognitive and emotional attributes such as decision-making, focus and risk tolerance.
You will need to complete the assessment within five days of receiving your email invitation. If you have already completed the Pymetrics process as part of another application in the last year, you can use those results instead of playing the games again.
As this is not a test, there are no right or wrong answers. Instead, a profile is being built with each game played, which highlights the unique traits and characteristics of the candidate. This gives JP Morgan more insight into where your strengths lie, and if you would be a good fit for the position.
On average, the process takes around 20–30 minutes to complete, with each game taking approximately 2–3 minutes. You can take a break in between games.
Once you complete the process your profile will be shared with JP Morgan and you will also receive a trait report that details your profile and unique cognitive, social, and behavioral attributes.
